Facebook.com is the number one visited website in the world surpassing Google.com in March 2010.
Has your Facebook News Feed become somewhat overrun by too much information? It publishes content from all types of sources–friends, family, and even companies. It just may be that you hit the “like” button one too many times. Here is how to cleanup your feed in seconds:
Head on over to the “Recommended Pages” via this link. You’ll be brought to a page that displays many Facebook pages that Facebook recommends that you like. They even tell you how to do it, “Roll over the Page and click Like to receive updates in your News Feed.” As mentioned before if you’ve recently gone on a liking spree, your News Feed could appear too busy or overrun with stuff that you really don’t want to see. The image above is a snapshot of a portion of my “Recommended Pages.” Note that selected or liked pages appear with a blue background. To “unlike” and hence remove a page from publishing updates to your News Feed, simply click on a page.
Now you know how to control and limit Facebook pages from publishing to your News feed.
The next thing you should do is check the apps that you’ve granted access to your Facebook and here is how. Head to your Privacy Settings located in the Account tab in the top right corner. On the bottom left corner, choose “Edit your settings” under Apps and Websites. Click “Edit your settings” for the Apps you use section. Now its time to review the apps shown. Below is a sample from my Facebook.
First remove any apps you do not recognize by clicking on the “X” that appears next to Edit Settings. For the remaining apps, go through and check the settings to ensure that they are sharing only information that you want to share.
Afterwards, its recommended that you review the settings for the additional options shown as well as your overall Privacy Settings for your Facebook account. Watch the video below to see why:
